Gary Hughes Runs 5K a Day for 365 Days: LimeTree Recruitment’s Latest Sponsorship to Support Local Families
At LimeTree Recruitment, community is at the heart of everything we do. That’s why we’re thrilled to announce our sponsorship of Gary Hughes, a local hero with a mission that’s as inspiring as it is impactful. Over the next 12 months, Gary will be running 5 kilometers every single day—rain or shine, wind or snow—with one incredible goal in mind: to raise over £1,000 for the Brandlesholme Community Centre.
This ambitious fundraiser will help provide Christmas presents and food hampers to families in need during the festive season. For many, Christmas can be a financially and emotionally challenging time, but thanks to Gary’s determination and the generosity of those who support him, Brandlesholme Community Centre will be able to deliver the magic of Christmas to those who need it most.
Gary Hughes isn’t just an ordinary runner—he’s a man with a vision and a commitment to making a difference. Running 5 kilometers every day for 365 days is no small feat. It requires an immense level of dedication, physical fitness, and mental strength. Yet, Gary’s motivation stems from something far greater than personal achievement: the opportunity to bring joy to families in Brandlesholme who might otherwise struggle to make ends meet during the festive season. When asked why he took on this challenge, Gary said, “Christmas is a time for togetherness and joy, but for many families, it can also be a source of stress and hardship. If my running can help ease that burden and bring smiles to children’s faces on Christmas morning, then every step will be worth it.”
The Brandlesholme Community Centre has long been a pillar of support for local families. Through various initiatives, they provide essential services, resources, and a sense of belonging to the community. Their efforts are especially critical during the holiday season when families may face increased financial pressures. The funds raised by Gary’s marathon endeavor will go directly towards the purchase of Christmas presents for children and food hampers for families. This means fewer families will have to choose between gifts under the tree or food on the table this Christmas. By partnering with Gary on this journey, we’re not just supporting his incredible physical challenge—we’re joining him in spreading hope and joy across the Brandlesholme community.
At LimeTree Recruitment, we believe that giving back to the community isn’t just a responsibility—it’s a privilege. That’s why we’re honored to sponsor Gary’s 365-day challenge. Our sponsorship will help cover the costs of organizing and promoting this initiative, ensuring Gary can focus on what he does best: running and inspiring others. As part of this sponsorship, we are excited to announce that LimeTree Recruitment will be Vblogging Gary’s progress every month. This will allow the community to follow his journey, celebrate his milestones, and witness firsthand the impact his dedication is having on local families.
In addition to sharing Gary’s story, we have also launched monthly 5K community runs across Lancashire and Greater Manchester. These events are open to everyone, regardless of fitness level, and are a wonderful way for families, friends, and neighbors to come together, get active, and support this meaningful cause. The runs will serve as both a fundraising opportunity and a chance to celebrate the power of community spirit.
Gary’s challenge is a testament to what one person can achieve with the support of a compassionate community. Every contribution, no matter how small, will directly support the Brandlesholme Community Centre’s Christmas efforts. Sharing Gary’s story with others will help raise awareness of his mission and inspire others to get involved. By participating in the monthly fun runs, families can enjoy time together while making a meaningful difference in their local community.
Gary’s journey reminds us all of the power of perseverance and the impact of community spirit. By running 5 kilometers every day for an entire year, he’s not just covering 1,825 kilometers—he’s paving the way for brighter Christmas mornings, fuller dinner tables, and stronger community bonds. LimeTree Recruitment is proud to stand beside Gary every step of the way. Together, we’re not just raising funds—we’re raising hopes, spreading kindness, and showing what’s possible when people come together for a common cause.
As we cheer Gary on through this remarkable journey, we invite everyone to be part of this story. Donations, participation in the monthly fun runs, and sharing his mission with others will make a tangible difference in the lives of families in Brandlesholme. Let’s make 2025 a year of generosity, joy, and community spirit.
